Sometimes I even curl up all cozy like and sleep next to his roots after I have a bad dream.

Sapling Yew is a young girl who lives in Oasis in Fallout 3..

Background[]

The only child of the Oasis village leaders, Tree Father Birch and Leaf Mother Laurel, eight-year-old Sapling Yew divides her time among several activities, including eating and sleeping in her family’s quarters and playing and gardening in the village with her mother. She also loves to play in the Grove, climb on and around the god-spirit, and fiddle with her Bear Charm.[1][2][3]

She likes to sneak into The Grove at night and listen to Harold talk about various things. Unlike the other Treeminders who seem to prefer to impose their own abstract interpretations on what Harold says, she seems to take the conversations she has with him at face value. Harold has explicitly stated that Yew is his favorite Treeminder.[4]

Quests[]

  • Oasis: If the Lone Wanderer passes a Speech check with her before fulfilling Harold's death wish, she will give the Lone Wanderer Yew's bear charm when spoken with her after the resolution of the quest. Speaking to her with a high enough Speech skill or the Child at Heart perk will also allow the Lone Wanderer to learn that Harold is afraid of fire.

Notable quotes[]

  • "[Hey, maybe if you tell me what Harold is scared of I won't be scared either.] [Tell me, too! Then I won't be scared either.] Awww, I never knew an Outsider could be scared of anything! Harold told me that he's scared of fire. If fire ever got on him, it would burn him and Bob until they were all gone. That's why we keep the fires far away from him."
