The yao guai cave is a location in the Zion Canyon.

Layout[]

The yao guai cave consists of a series of small tunnels leading to a large central cavern containing three yao guai. Upon entering the paths will fork, the uphill path to the right will dead end at two skeletons, the left hand path downhill is the only option. At the next fork, going straight will lead to a high vantage point over the central cavern, if the player wishes to attack from here, they must hop up onto the rock blocking view of the cavern below. An invisible barrier will block all shots unless the yao guai are against the western wall of the large cavern or near the middle. If they are below the Courier then the shots will hit said invisible barrier.

Returning to the last fork the player can take the left this time, it leads to a partially submerged tunnel which exits at another fork. Heading left leads to a dead end, right leads to the large central cavern.

Related quests[]

Notes[]

  • If the player chooses to enter the central cavern before killing the yao guai, the dead-end passage is a good place to retreat to if necessary, as it is too narrow for the yao guai to follow.
  • If you destroy the cave during River Monsters, you can still enter it. However, it will only be a small room blocked off by a wall of rock.
  • At least 10 cave fungus can be found in the cave.

Appearances[]

The yao guai cave appears in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Honest Hearts.
