I can't believe I went through all that trouble to leave Navarro and make my way across the country just to get stuck in this shithole. I'll be damned if I'm going to die here.

William Brandice is a former Enclave serviceman who settled on the East Coast in Grayditch with his family. He is dead in Fallout 3.

Background[]

Once an Enclave soldier and medic, Brandice has fled Navarro with his family after the destruction of Control station Enclave. He and his loved ones moved from town to town, slowly making their way across the entire North American continent. Finally, on October 2, 2276, William arrived in Grayditch with his son and wife. He took up the trade of a scavenger, picking over the ruins looking for valuables to sell. It was on October 30 that he dug up what would ruin his peace of mind forever: A working radio, which broadcast President John Henry Eden's speech. However, he put it out of mind and focused on immediate survival.[1][2]

On November 15 that year, Weston Lesko arrived at the small settlement in Grayditch. He tried to hire Brandice as help, though William refused. Something didn't seem right. A few months after Lesko's arrival, William noticed the heightened aggression of local ants and bought an additional gun in Megaton to protect himself and his family against the aggressive fire ants on February 24, 2277. By April 2, the situation got so bad that he could scarcely get out of the house and not get attacked by them. The situation reached a peak on June 16, when the ants began relentlessly attacking everyone in the settlement and tried to claw their way into Brandice's house. In response, William tried to counter-attack and find the source of the infestation, but perished beneath the settlement.[1]

Originally from Navarro (a west coast military base), Brandice journeyed across the continent for reasons unknown, and settled in the town of Grayditch as a doctor. Believing the Enclave was closing in on him, Brandice took to the underground, but wasn't ready for quite so many Fire Ants. A one-time friend of Fred Wilks, Brandice is said to have a small weapons cache saved from his transcontinental trek."
