Vegetables are plants or parts of a plant used as food, typically as accompaniment to meat or fish. These items are found in various forms throughout the Fallout series.
Varieties[]
Main articles[]
Carrot[]
A fresh carrot restores some of your hit points without irradiating you. It is one of the few edible food items that doesn't give you any radiation, In hardcore mode, it reduces starvation and dehydration.
Potato[]
The potato is the edible tuberous root of the perennial nightshade, Solanum tuberosum, commonly known as the potato plant.[1] Despite being commonly cultivated in the western parts of North America, it is all but absent on the East Coast, and was only seen successfully grown in the Rivet City hydroponics lab in 2277. By 2287 it was reported as being extinct,[2] with its ecological niche being filled by the Tato plant in the Commonwealth. Although wastelanders have made reference to pre-War french fries, it's unknown if wasteland chefs prepare potatoes in this way.[3]
Onion[]
Onions[4] are one of the oldest cultivated plans in human history. By 2281, it's one of the staples of the diet of New California Republic Army.[5]

Note: As fresh tomatoes and potatos are seen in the Mojave Wasteland as of 2281 – with the potato seen in the Capital Wasteland as of 2277, the claim of either's extinction by 2287 in the Commonwealth Plant Database could be taken to mean Local extinction in certain east coast regions, as opposed to Global extinction. - ↑ Reno townsfolk: "{270}{}{You got fries to go with that shake, beautiful?}"
