Having lived by the gun - well, Vance owned one, anyway - it was only fitting that the duo of desperados would die by the gun.

Primm Slim, Fallout: New Vegas

Vance's 9mm submachine gun (SMG) is a unique weapon in Fallout: New Vegas.

Background[]

Vance and his wife Vikki were "master criminals" before the Great War. The player can hear the story of Vikki and Vance by consulting Primm Slim in the Vikki and Vance Casino. Slim's account implies that Vikki and Vance were in fact small-time white collar criminals. According to Slim, Vance purchased a high-quality mint condition 9mm machine gun immediately prior to his death but never fired it.

The 9mm submachinegun preserved in the glass case to the left of this plaque is the ACTUAL weapon Vance carried in a paper-wrapped box under some suitcases in the trunk of his car during his and Vikki's crime spree! Never fired, and luckily untouched by the hail of bullets that ended its notorious owner's life, the weapon's mint condition inspires dread in all who look upon it. Experts speculate that Vance might have killed as many as fifty people had he ever fired the gun - so long as his aim was exact and he was starting off with a full clip - or even more if he had additional ammo clips and remembered to reload!

Characteristics[]

Vance's 9mm SMG blown up

Vance's 9mm SMG expanded

Vance's 9mm SMG has several differences from the standard 9mm SMG. Apart from dealing more damage and a drum magazine with double the capacity, it has a pristine black finish with wooden grips with, lacks a stock and uses Express type sights.

Its high rate of fire, common ammunition and high DPS make it a valuable weapon to a character skilled in Guns. Because of it's pristine and well-maintained state, Vance's 9mm submachine gun has an inherently higher weapon condition and can fire a total of 3745 standard rounds from full condition before breaking.

Location[]

The weapon is missing from its display case in the Vikki and Vance Casino, but Primm Slim does not notice this fact. With high enough science skill (50), however, you will gain a dialog option to reveal that the weapon was taken to Wins Hideout, where it can be found inside the safe with a very hard lock. The lock can be picked, or with a high enough speech skill (55) you can convince the Wins to give you the combination, or if you don't have enough speech for the speech check talk to Sammy again and another dialog option will appear.

Behind the scenes[]

  • The combination of the safe is 05-23-34, a reference to the date when Bonnie and Clyde were killed.
