The following is based on Fallout Tactics and some details might contradict canon.

The Tommy gun is a small gun in Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics.

This Thompson M1928 submachine gun is a sinister looking weapon; every time you hold it, you have an urge to put on a fedora hat and crack your knuckles. The Thompson is well-fed by a large 50 round drum magazine.

Main article: Submachine gun

This Thompson M1928 submachine gun is a sinister looking weapon; every time you hold it, you have an urge to put on a fedora hat and crack your knuckles. The Thompson is well-fed by a large 50 round drum magazine. Like the "Grease gun", the Thompson is pretty powerful, but fires nondescript .45 caliber rounds.

Characteristics[]

In Fallout Tactics, this weapon is notable in that it takes fewer AP to fire in burst mode than in single shot mode and for having better range than the Fallout 2 version in burst fire. Despite this, it's also significantly useless for the time you find it; the rounds will plink right off the armor of the Reavers and the robots. In fact, you'll notice that Gammorin's bodyguard is actually doing more damage to you than he is.
