Speech Challenge[]

Is this reward dependent on the speech check with Yew early in the Oasis quest?

→ I don't know, however according to other members of this site, there is no reward when failing the speech challenge. After I read your question I loaded an earlier save and just chose not to attempt the speech challenge (I had a 100% success chance, so I couldn't fail it, thus I figured just not choosing to attempt it was the next best way to check this personally). After finishing the quest, Sapling Yew didn't give me the charm, and there was no conversation option for it (only the "what will you do now" and "I have to go now" options). It would be my guess that the outcome would be the same for someone who fails the speech challenge. Btw, please sign your posts. - Fembot G.g3 09:57, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Ok, well it's been a while since i played the game, But, if my memory does recall, for the PS3, Before you begin to embark on the oasis quest I.E. diving into the cave to help destroy his heart, grow it ETC. you should have completed the speech challenge with Sapling Yew. and when you have done, depending on your chosen solution to Oasis, you would have gotten Yew's Bear Charm, which for me, was a +10 Speech and +1 Charisma item that i carried as miscellaneous gear. I went with killing his Heart and also getting +6 DR =].Nosferus 06:01, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

Edit[]

I've edited this page, removing the statement "there's no real value to the actual Charm", and reset the value to 50 (it was previously set to 3) caps. The charm may not be worth much overall, perhaps, but it is worth more than the average teddy bear. Although the charm looks like a regular teddy bear when dropped (which is likely the cause for the author's confusion), the value when looked at in the Pip-Boy 3000 is set to 50. I updated this page to reflect that. - Fembot G.g3 09:57, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
