Notable settlements[]

"One of the most notable Mormon settlements is New Canaan."

  • JE Sawyer's Fallout Role Playnig Game is not a source of this information.
  • It is true only when destroyed locations are equall to existing (New Jerusalem); there is no information about other settlements - Jericho Desalination Plant dont't belong to Mormons.

There isn't really any "Van Buren canon" since there are various versions that contradict each other and not always the last version necessarily should be considered "final". The destruction of New Canaan in the Jericho doc isn't more canon than the New Canaan from the New Canaan doc - it might have been if the game was finished, but now both are equally valid (and I actually prefer Sawyer's New Canaan, since the only reason it was cut and merged with Jericho is because they had to shorten the game to meet deadlines). In my current PnP campaign, I use New Canaan doc and whatever I was able to get from the devs about the pre-merge Jericho as canon. Ausir 13:12, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Canons are defined by users/fans. Some need it, some not. My proposition of definition for "internal van Buren canon" is, that this is part of its "heritage", that would be implemented into Fallout 3. This is not contrary with our assesment of New Canaan and Jericho desing documents concerning its estetic value. I do not exclude option, that because of New Canaan value we can agree, that this variant of plot is a "van Buren canon" and Jericho sholud be reffered as variation or auxiliary source of information.

Move to "Mormons"?[]

I think this article should be moved to simply "Mormons" and the current title be redirected to New Canaan. As I understand it, "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" is the name of the church building in that town, not the name of the faith/faction. It's a bit like having an article about the Catholic Church named "St. Peter's Basilica". -- Porter21 (talk) 02:37, January 28, 2010 (UTC)

Actually, the faith-group's full proper name is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints." Quite a mouthful, but that's why they are popularly referred to as "Mormons," even by themselves. The building has a name - I forget the full name - but it called a temple or tabernacle, not a church.--Gothemasticator 06:28, January 28, 2010 (UTC)
Well, I was talking about the New Canaan design document where "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" refers to the church building whereas the group is consistently called "Mormons". I'm more interested in the Fallout-world-usage of the term than the real-world one :) Plus even in the real world, "Mormons" is much shorter and more common than the full name (the respective Wikipedia article is called "Mormon", too). -- Porter21 (talk) 08:28, January 28, 2010 (UTC)
Doh. And another "Doh" for the devs for naming the building that. :) --Gothemasticator 09:12, January 28, 2010 (UTC)

New Vegas Faction[]

Are they really an in-game faction? They are sort of mentioned (the old mormon fort) but do they actually exist in the game files as a faction? If not we should edit the article to reflect this. --Johnny Trash (Talk) 03:45, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

They don't exist as anything other than dialogue from a few people-ie Alice McLaferty talking about taking over the New Canaan trade routes. They are quite heavily foreshadowed however, ie "where's New Canaan anyway" etc, and probably will appear in a future DLC-hey the design documents are already written why not use them?

TRIBE???[]

Can we REALLY consider these guys to be a tribe? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.125.236.175 (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

What, you don't think they're notable enough to be considered? --Kris 01:20, July 15, 2011 (UTC)
