Source?[]

What's the source on this? Wasn't in the GameInformer preview. 216.56.36.82 18:18, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

A new preview. Go to NMA. Tezzla blah blah blah 18:19, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

I demand citation for the the funness of tanning hides. Serious face (lol). RadRuler 21:03, October 2, 2010 (UTC)

Wishlist[]

I hope one of the recipes includes a new and improved strange meat pie. I dislike the current version as it doesn't restore anywhere near the amount of health that raw human flesh does. Mictlantecuhtli 03:32, August 21, 2010 (UTC)

sorry but there is a new cuisine called human remains and cannibalism comes at level four! woot

Stimpaks[]

it's been confirmed taht you can make healing powders by JE Sawyer but stimpaks? Wouldnt that be a little too advanced? cite a article for me if i'm wrong LK Tien 19:43, September 6, 2010 (UTC)

nope on the work benche and have to have a certain med skill

So this means that food won't become useless at higher levels?[]

Because that becomes bothersome in FO3. and if it involves food, does this mean that it will involve water as well?Superinsomniac 00:37, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

So this skill involves recipies?[]

Does this means that you will have to find recipes out in the wasteland or will you just be able to mix and match foods to have greater effect, or even mixing chems, and does this mean that you will have to carry around some kind of cooking stove?

Probably not recipes, but you'll be able to grill crap. Nitty Tok. 00:44, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

camping?[]

does this mean we'll be able to make fires for cooking brahmin steak, set up a little sleeping bag, then tell camp stories to total stranger wastelanders? then get attacked by one eyed willy? (the stories and one eyed willy was a joke... ...for now) Jackass2009 18:22, October 3, 2010 (UTC)

yes no no hell no ad hell no

bugged on x360[]

intelligence controls survival on the xbox360. big bug

Playing a pirated copy? Your "data" means nothing.--Gothemasticator 21:53, October 17, 2010 (UTC)

Confirmed on the intelligence-survival bug. I noticed this today as well. Don't fix it! This makes my intelligence build beautiful. --IlbJanissary 07:12, October 22, 2010 (UTC)

It's also bugged on PS3. Tried Buffout and wearing Wasteland Settler Outfit for END boosts and Survival was unaffected.Dr. Lobotomy 23:07, October 22, 2010 (UTC)

It's true, intelligence controls Survival on the 360. I can't speak for the PS3. 2 + 12 (6 Endurance) + 3 (6 Luck) = 15 + 15 (Tag) = 30, however Survival will actually be 40 after being tagged with 10 intelligence. I own the collector's edition. Mictlantecuhtli 14:43, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
Seconding the PS3. It is a balance issue. 1END, 8INT, 1LK . . . and 19 Survival without tag. END does, however, still control unarmed: 5 unarmed.--CaTigeReptile 15:37, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

SPECIAL boosts[]

does survival also increase the amount of a stat lost, i.e. beer reduces intelligence by 1 at skill lvl 20 and decreases intelligence by 3 at skill lvl 100? I dont think my alcohol always had a -2 INT effect, I think it used to be -1. Can anyone help me with this? TJbrena 16:26, December 3, 2010 (UTC)

are you drinking dixons whiskey The Wanderer that is Alone

Consumables[]

I don't know if this belongs here or not, but on the plethora of comsumables' pages I can't help but notice that the stats for the food items is lower than what I have for my character with 68 Survival. Is this on purpose, showing the lowest possible scores for the different effects that consumables have?BlackHawk117 01:42, December 6, 2010 (UTC)BlackHawk117

Can't make a steak!?[]

Why do I need a certain survival level to make a steak?! Does it really matter what type of meat it is? All it involves is throwing a piece of meat over a fire, but no, I need a certain level of survival to cook meat. Definite flaw in the game. (Rjkrisch)

well think of it some meat has to cook more then other think of girth and length. and its mutant meat that has to be different then non mutie meat

Every crafted item requires a certain level. It's not that hard to understand. It's not a flaw in the game at all.

Other than game balance (which is the main reason) it is at least possible that the creators realized that there is a talent to skinning, butchering, and cooking a steak over a campfire without it turning into a charred, hairy, clump of animal matter. It's not like taking your precooked steak and throwing it on the gas grill. 2.2 Dog 15:56, April 10, 2011 (UTC)

Equation[]

What happened to the equation? Now all the equation say is "Can't hash baby". Can anyone shed some light onto what happened? Kastera1000 17:54, January 17, 2011 (UTC)

Penalties Increase as skill increases?[]

Can anyone give me some logic to this? I would think that as one learned to "hold their liquor" the penalties for drinking alcohol should decrease. If anything, it could be more sensible that bonuses and penalties had an inverse relationship. Liquor should have a higher penalty to begin with, and that should decrease as skill increases, just the opposite of positive benefits. Like I said, I'm looking for some logic to this, any input is appreciated.

perks[]

shouldn't the page also list survival based perks as well? other skill pages mention them, though sometimes they aren't complete. I have no idea how to do it myself =( 76.198.70.129 00:04, July 7, 2011 (UTC)

Survival and alcohol?[]

I noticed that alcohol started granting me +2 STR and CHA and -2 INT. Is this due to my survival skill? I find it strange that survival would affect alcohol, as it's considered a chem and not a food item. And it doesn't seem like the effectiveness of other chems is affected. Anybody know anything about this? In any case, I guess I'll find out once I get my survival to 100 if the bonuses change to 3's.--107.8.57.54 08:36, September 14, 2011 (UTC)

Two questions: what alcohol and what's your survival? --Kastera (talk) 23:36, September 15, 2011 (UTC)
