Heroin?[]
Currently in the article in the introduction it states that one of Psycho's chemical canisters on the injector contains heroin, what I would like to know is where was this information obtained? It seems unlikely to me Psycho would be made up of any opioid as this would probably impair combat. 01:57, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
Heroin overdose is not cured by a shot of adrenaline to a heart, this was popularized by pulp fiction. When nalaxone or naltrexone is injected, it immediately blocks all action of heroin, or any other opiate.
- As seen in Trainspotting. I found this about Pulp Fiction: OK, this isn't a 100 percent accurate depiction of what would actually occur. But here's the thing: doctors honest to God do on (rare) occasion jab a big hypodermic of epinephrine, aka adrenaline, directly into the heart of someone who's gone into cardiac arrest, a technique called intracardiac injection (ICI). If the patient is lucky she revives quickly--epinephrine is the fight-or-flight hormone that blasts through your system in moments of extremity. So there's a grain of truth to the scene. But only a grain. Among the problematic details: (1) The heart isn't beneath the "breastplate" (presumably Lance means the breastbone, or sternum--the heart is to the left of this), and in any case only a fool would try to force a needle through bone--you'd go between the ribs. (2) A cardiac arrest victim getting ICI doesn't instantly jerk up like the alarm clock just went off--the heart might restart right away, but it would take a while to regain consciousness. (3) Mia's problem probably isn't cardiac arrest anyway--the immediate consequence of heroin overdose is severe respiratory depression. As long as her heart keeps beating, ICI is pointless. If Mia needs an injection of something, a plain old intravenous shot will work just fine, since her blood is still circulating. (4) Epinephrine wouldn't sober up someone who was OD'ing. To neutralize heroin you'd administer a drug such as Narcan (naloxone), which blocks the opiate receptors in the brain and can bring a junkie back to earth in a matter of minutes.
- In the army as a medic we talked to the doctors about these movies, and were told injecting something straight into the heart is dodgy at best, since there's the risk of puncturing the heart. Dcruze 09:56, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Scientific Basis[]
I have reason to believe that psycho may be based, purely on affect and purpose, based upon wikipedia:D-IX. I just put in a post on the talk page on psychostimulants on wikipedia asking about other probable military stims of similar use, basis, affect to psycho in my attempt to find what chemical compound psycho may really be.Aryeonos 06:43, September 10, 2009 (UTC)
I believe that the canister contains adrenaline, methamphetamine, or some other psychostimulant. It most likely DOESN'T contain heroin, as it is a depressant. I wouldn't run into combat pumped full of heroin.--72.147.255.58 22:15, December 1, 2009 (UTC)thesecondzohan, having computer problems
- The idea of heroin being in Psycho makes no sense, and the canon Fallout 2 guide being sourced does not mention anything about heroin. Removing and mentioning D-IX in the "See Also". Al Roker 10:22, April 24, 2010 (UTC)
Health increase?[]
I popped buffout and later some psycho. About ten minutes after the buffout wore off, my health didn't go down by much. Then, when the psycho wore off, my health went back down to critical, as it had before I took the two items. Xbox 360, latest patch. Josrence44 20:08, January 28, 2010 (UTC)
Vegas as nickname or metaphor?[]
When Benny says in All Roads, "only thing in that vial is Vegas", is he literally talking about calling Psycho Vegas or is he using the name Vegas as a metaphor? I'm thinking it's the latter; when Benny says his line, I think he's calling Psycho Vegas as a metaphor for the new way of living the Chairmen are doing. Instead of dealing with problems the old tribal way of just killing people, he's implying that underhandedness and trickery is required to take care of people in your way - it wasn't just Psycho that killed the singer, it was Vegas itself killing him for trying to return to the old ways. 71.232.68.3 05:22, August 14, 2011 (UTC)
