Played with this with a character that has Slayer and 10 AGI and it is really absurd how fast it is. For a second, I thought my CPU had gone haywire. Looks like a video in fast forward. --Rooker75 07:03, September 28, 2011 (UTC)

Add to Main Weapon List[]

Greased Lightning. needs to be added to the New Vegas weapons list. --an0my(talk) 00:09, October 1, 2011 (UTC)

Done, although some of the values still need to be filled in. BILLYOCEAN Wanna talk? 00:26, October 1, 2011 (UTC)

This weapon, when used properly and in conjunction with dubious amounts of Turbo, can rape even a pack of Deathclaws. FUCK YES!!!! MkII Power Armor 16:16, November 4, 2011 (UTC)

Grease reference?[]

F'realz? Isn't it more likely that this weapon is named after a common expression that predates that film? Just sayin.--71.200.32.93 03:15, October 4, 2011 (UTC)

People are more likely to relate it to the popular film rather than the saying. Yes Man default 03:20, October 4, 2011 (UTC)
^^Twas me. Anyway, I don't agree with you really. Unless someone knows something I don't (say, a developer authoritatively stated somewhere that the name was a reference), I don't see why it should be included in the article.--DeadlyPrey 03:25, October 4, 2011 (UTC)
Well, considering it has not been stated that the weapon is named after the movie, I suppose you'd be correct in removing it from the page. Just make sure that you state "Speculation" in the summary so it doesn't get reverted. Yes Man default 03:27, October 4, 2011 (UTC)
Okie, will do. o/--DeadlyPrey 03:29, October 4, 2011 (UTC)

Ya'll may want to put in an editor's note or something, because running a search I found nothing relating to a saying, top results were a line of de-greaser products, Grease movie articles, and an autobiographical movie about Wendell Scott. User:Great_MaraMessage 03:36, October 4, 2011 (UTC)

It's an expression, Faster than greased lightning. At least, I think. Yes Man default 03:40, October 4, 2011 (UTC)
It is. Not sure why it was reverted. [1]--DeadlyPrey 03:43, October 4, 2011 (UTC)
I reverted the removal because I think its pretty impossible to say Greased Lightning and not think of the musical, but if others disagree I won't add it back if its removed again. BILLYOCEAN Wanna talk? 03:44, October 4, 2011 (UTC)
The saying is "Faster than greased lightning" and comes from the 50s-60s era that Fallout makes a parody of. The weapon attacks 2.6 times a second (almost 4 times a second with slayer/ain't like that now). It's easy to see how this weapon is linked to an old saying about speed. On the other hand I have trouble seeing how a mechanical glove is linked to a musical about high school love; other than the fact that any mention of "grease" "greasy" or "greased" will make people think of that movie. ~Shadowcat
Pretty good explanation to someone (me) who didn't know about both. IPodged 22:39, October 6, 2011 (UTC)
The reference to Danny Zuko's car is a stretch. Until someone has definitive proof that it references the movie, I'd rather assume it's a reference to the popular phrase in the era that the game takes place in. 72.95.244.42 09:59, October 21, 2011 (UTC)
