A sword-like weapon? Created by humanoids in the wasteland?[]
Either it's a sword, or it's not. From the picture I can clearly see that it is, indeed, a sword. As far as it being "Created by humanoids in the wasteland" well, yeah. It's not like Mirelurks or Giant Ants are particularly known for their craftsmanship. In fact, there's no non-humanoids except robots who use weapons in the Fallout games. Bumper Sword?[]
Where did that name come from? I liked scrap sword better.Deus 09:23, October 1, 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, bumper sword makes it sound like some mutant sharpend a car bumper...--Billytheboy 17:19, October 2, 2010 (UTC)
- I saw somewhere that Lily's weapon is a sharpened vertibird prop. Deus 09:35, October 3, 2010 (UTC)
- In that case, maybe it is a bumper... --Billytheboy 16:52, October 3, 2010 (UTC)
- I was trying to say that maybe it isnt a bumper that it kinda looks like a prop to me and whoever thought it was a bumper was wrong. Deus 19:50, October 3, 2010 (UTC)
I guess we'll find out soon... --Billytheboy 20:51, October 3, 2010 (UTC)
It's called a bumper sword because it's made from a flattened car bumper.Powlee 05:24, October 22, 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, it indeed appears to be a car bumper. You can even see a license plate on the sword indicating so. [Anonymous]
Could be the name is a loose reference to the "Buster Sword".[Anonymous]
- The shapes don't correspond. Cloud's sword is much more angular.--Gothemasticator 17:41, November 7, 2010 (UTC)
- The shape may not be exact, but the size and the name are an obvious reference. I immediately recognized it and laughed. [Anonymous]
Conflicting values[]
The Bumper Sword in my game (PC, patched, some mods installed but nothing affecting weapons, plus I remember having this even before the mods) has a value listed as 883, not the value currently shown on the page (632). Specifically, this is the Bumper Sword I took after killing Davison at REPCONN.
Yeah, I found one on a random nightkin at blackmountain that is barely half health and it is worth 1019, so 632 cant be right(X360)
Nope[]
It's called a bumper sword because it's a sword made from a bumper. It's not a reference to Final Fantasy. *Facepalm* --Jackarunda 03:00, November 29, 2010 (UTC)
- I'd personally disagree. They've taken the name of something from somewhere else (the Buster Sword), changed the name ("Buster" to "Bumper") and then made it out of a bumper. That's how most loose satiracal references work. It does have a notable resemblance to the buster sword too.
- I mean, I'll take a game where all its map names are references. Micro Maniacs has a course called "Mice n easy" - it's an easy map, with added mice. "Straight and marrow" has narrow straights, with added marrows. That's how these kind of references work. It's a bumper, because it's called the "Bumper sword", but the "Bumper sword" derives from the "Buster sword". 80.42.255.2 17:22, December 5, 2010 (UTC)
I Agree with it just being called Bumper Sword because it is a sword made from a bumper...--75.171.98.41 06:39, May 8, 2011 (UTC)
Sword shape but not a real sword?![]
Anyone else notice that the bumper "sword" seems more dull then sharpened? When I hit enemies with the bumper sword it sounds like I was bludgeoning them to death, just like with my super sledge. It most certainly does not even look sharp.
