Getting Edwards to leave for the ranger station[]
How do I get Astor to offer info about the Ranger station so I can tell Edwards about it? Is there a console command for it? I see in GECK that it's labeled VM43CampSearchlightTopic114 but it never shows up when talking to him, and I can only tell Edwards the lie or to head out to the wastes. You've got to kill ALL the radscorpions, then tell Edwards it's safe to leave. He still won't leave! But he does give you the option to go and talk to Astor on his behalf, which you should then do. Astor will tell you about an NCR ranger station with Ghoul soldiers if you ask him "Is there any place he could go?" but if your INT is 7 or higher, you can actually talk Astor into taking Edwards back into his own squad. Then run back and tell the good news to Edwards. I just did this 5 minutes ago, and it works. Good luck! 68.53.162.70 07:21, October 30, 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, I forgot to mention: when you successfully convince Edwards to leave his house, he immediately DROPS his irradiated dog tags on the floor, right where he was standing at the time. I had to run all the way back to his house AGAIN to get them and finish the quest. Anyway, hope this helps! :) 68.53.162.70 07:26, October 30, 2010 (UTC)
- The radscorps were already killed. The option "Is there any place he could go?" does not appear. Edwards -> I'll go talk to him on your behalf. Astor -> "Who is Edwards?" (A ghoul in Camp Searchlight). "He should be put down." then the only options are Can I ask you about something else. and Goodbye. I already got his dog tag from him with the Speech check and finished the quest. Maybe that's what broke it... TheTrueBlue 10:09, October 30, 2010 (UTC)
BUG FIXED[]
Ok, I forced Astor to tell me about the Ranger Station by going close to him, then opening the console, clicking on him, and then typing:
startconversation player 001438F0
(the last 0 is a Zero, not the letter "O")
Then I was able to go tell Edwards about it, but when he left the house he just stood there doing nothing. So I opened console, clicked on Edwards, typed: kill, waited a second, then: resurrect, and then he started running to his destination. As you follow him, make sure not to get too close or he will stop to greet to you (lol)! He has a service rifle, which does an ok job against any enemies you might encounter. Remember to stay a distance away from him. Eventually after protecting him a small distance, you will see him enter and settle into his new home: Ranger Station Echo! Astor will only give you this quest if you have already discovered Cottonwood Cove.
astor is killed by legionaries![]
i hadn't found astor yet.i loaded my save inside camp searchlight,and right away the 2 quests associated with him fail.i go find him and he has been killed by legionaries!i can 't load an older save,it 's too far behind....anyway i think i'll just have to leave these 2 quests--Frizstyler 22:26, July 13, 2011 (UTC)
UPDATE:lol i went back to that older save and approached the area to see the incident live,but this time it wasn't him who was killed by the legion,it was one of his troopers--Frizstyler 22:38, July 13, 2011 (UTC)
XP Exploit[]
Not sure if this should be added to his page or not but I'll add it here and I guess you can put it where ever you want.
Upon first meeting Astor do these steps to receive XP requires a Speech of 50.
1. Say "If the area is filled with radiation, why are you still here?"
2. Say "Are there any other survivors?"
3. Say "What's in it for me?"
4. Say "[Speech 50] I'm gonna need more than that if you want my help."
5. Say "Sorry, I can't help you right now."
6. Repeat Steps 1-5 until your fully leveled or however long you want to do it.
PS This was done on Xbox 360 with the latest version.
