Starting Items Variations[]

I've started a few new games in F:NV and have noticed that you can also recieve a straight razor (possibly if your melee skill is high) and also an armoured vault jumpsuit (NOT as a preorder bonus, unsure of requirements to recieve it). Can anyone else confirm other items you may recieve or the exact requirements for the straight razor and armoured vault jumpsuit? Atomotron 14:43, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

I've noticed that Doc Mitchell's statement on choosing your stats varies if you have a stat at 8 or higher. Could this page list those statements? Also, are there equivalents for low stats? 60.242.181.213 13:03, November 18, 2010 (UTC)

Yes there are, with a charisma of 1 he'll state "There must be some frontal lobe damage.". Mictlantecuhtli 13:21, November 18, 2010 (UTC)

Video[]

Do we actually need a video on something is is actually a part of the game that is extremely self explanatory?--Kingclyde 09:11, November 22, 2010 (UTC)

Absolutely not. People have been adding a lot of unnecessary videos to articles which don't need them. --Kris User Hola 11:26, November 22, 2010 (UTC)

Examination Outcomes[]

It would be helpful if someone could explain which skills correspond to which answers during the examination Doc Mitchell gives. The idea I have in mind is something similar to the G.O.A.T. article. That way players can know how to get their preferred skills as an outcome of the examination rather than just adjusting them manually.

I did a little digging into this a while back, made these notes in November, found them just now while doing a bit of spring cleaning. There are a couple of bugs in the script, most notable is the reference to big guns skill which a couple of questions lead to.

Other Factors[]

1 point should then be added to those combat skills Associated with the highest S.P.E.C.I.A.L stat. The script is badly written though and only checks perception and strength. So 1 point will be added to Melee and unarmed if strength is higher than perception, 1 point to Explosives and Energy weapons if Perception is higher than strength

If Sneak is in the top 3 highest scorers at this point, 1 point will be added to melee, unarmed and small guns. And Sneak will be tagged

Then the highest scoring combat skill (small guns, unarmed, melee, explosives, energy weapons) will be tagged

Next the hichest scoring from Speech, Barter, Lockpick and Science will be tagged.

Finally If sneak was not tagged previously then the highest scoring skill that is not already tagged, will be tagged. -- Rhom 21:18, April 11, 2011 (UTC)

Possible Bug[]

I just started a new game (playing PS3 version, US region w/Caravan Pack DLC) and everything is fine until I'm told to sit on Doc Mitchell's couch. I get the tips telling me how to jump (which I can), pick up objects (which I can) but I can't do anything else. I'm stuck at walking speed and when I press X to sit on the couch, I get the 'denied click' (such as when attempting to pick a lock that is too hard for you).

My other three characters seem to be working fine. Should be noted I haven't made a new character since the patch. Any ideas what's going on? AzureSN 15:45, December 26, 2010 (UTC)

'Thats all she left me'[]

I'm curious as to whom Doc Mitchell refers after the equivalent of the G.O.A.T. He says something to the effect of 'Well, thats all she left me about you. You take a look to see if it checks out' I haven't a clue who this lady he refers to is. Any info about it would be appreciated, thanks [[User:Mr snip| Alpha Snip.]] 10:51, January 17, 2011 (UTC)

  • Actually, what he says is "And that's all she wrote". It's a popular phrase meaning "And that's all there is to it" or "It's done". He's not referring to any real person at all.

rorschach test[]

I was watching Armageddon, and I noticed that in the movie, they administer a Rorschach test to all the astronauts, the cards were the same as the ones used by Doc Mitchell in New Vegas. Just thought i'd share. You can see the "bears high five-ing" card when "Rockhound" mentions a woman with large breasts.

Thur's Yer Prawblum Raat Thur![]

Excuse me, but I need some help deciphering Doc Mitchell's speech. When he says something along the lines of, "I ain't given to relyin' on others for support," what exactly does he mean? 'Given' is the only word I could imagine being in that place in sentence, judging from the context.

Yeah, that one is kind of garbled. He probably means "I don't like getting help from other people" or "I'm a loner." Hope that helps. Otisman 21:20, March 5, 2011 (UTC)

Doc's Mitchell's responses[]

He actually has at least two different comments at the end of the questionaire based on whether you chose good or evil answers. However, comments are that are probably better listed along with the responses to the player's SPECIAL stats on his page. Great Mara 22:06, March 24, 2011 (UTC)

Age effects?[]

I was just wondering if the age chosen for the player had any effect on stats or game play or if is just a cosmetic thing? --174.252.54.109 06:14, April 29, 2011 (UTC)

Detailed walkthrough lacking[]

The detailed walkthrough for this article is really not all that detailed and a large portion of it describes the loot in the house and are irrelevant to the quest itself (not to mention the items ownership are set to the player at the start and not when leaving and re-entering).--KKotton 07:11, June 22, 2011 (UTC)

Skipping tag skill section?[]

■In the event that a person wants to skip through the options process that decides your tag skills, the default tag skills are melee weapons, survival and speech.

How exactly does someone do this again? I've found no way to get past sitting down on the couch. Great Mara 19:30, June 26, 2011 (UTC)
