Strange meat is a peculiar edible in Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.
Background[]
Widely suspected to be human flesh, no one knows exactly what it is, other than it looks and tastes strange. The presence of the item is often used in the game to indicate that those possessing it are cannibals.
Variants[]
Strange meat[]
It appears to be spongy bits of meat skewered onto a stick. It restores a small amount of hit points and also give a small dose of rads. In Fallout: New Vegas, this meat makes your Strength suffer a -1 penalty.
Strange meat pie[]
Ground up strange meat that has been baked into a pie. It doesn't have any different effects from that of regular strange meat, aside from the Strength penalty being nullified in Fallout: New Vegas.
Imitation strange meat pie[]
Imitation strange meat pie, or "sweet veal", is a dish invented by Gourmand head chef Philippe for members of the White Glove Society as a substitute to eating human flesh.
Human flesh[]
Strips of flesh, scavenged from a human corpse, ready to be eaten raw.
Human remains[]
Human flesh on the go! After having obtained the Dine and Dash perk, human remains can be found on every human corpse. It reduces Starvation less than human flesh, but is much more readily available.
Behind the scenes[]
- Strange meat pies might be a reference to Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street in which the two main characters murder people, then grind and bake their remains into a "meat" pie.
