The following is based on Van Buren and has not been confirmed by canon sources.

Steve is a citizen of New Canaan in 2253.

Background[]

This rather volatile young man is a former member of the Followers of the Apocalypse. He's a stubborn blockhead, and loathes religion of all sorts. Even though the New Canaanites are doing pretty well, he can sense a general dislike and/or distrust of Jeremiah Rigdon. He believes that Jeremiah should be overthrown and all the current residents of New Canaan should be allowed to vote for a leader democratically.

He compares New Canaan with Vault City which is, of course, completely unfair. He wants to do this violently, through the assassination of Jeremiah. Steve is a man of average height, fair skin, and short, dark hair.

He wears leather armor and carries a 9mm SMG.

Three days after the player converses with Steve about the possible "purification" of New Canaan, Steve will lay out a set of steps to fulfill the assassinations of several New Canaan leaders. Although being a devout member of the Followers, he encourages getting rid of them to create a better life for the New Canaanites.

The player has the option of confronting Jeremiah over Steve's plot to purify New Canaan with the evidence of his notes detailing the maniacal plot. Jeremiah will exile Steve the next day, and his fate in the wastes is unknown.
