Solar Powered is a perk in Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and Fallout 4.

Effects[]

Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas[]

With this perk, you gain an additional 2 points to Strength when in direct sunlight, and slowly regenerate lost health at a rate of 1 HP every second. Unlike Night Person, which operates both indoors and out, this perk only operates outdoors. It is in effect between 6 AM and 6 PM. It synchronizes well with Rad Absorption for healing minor health damage and minor radiation poisoning while exploring or fast traveling.

Fallout 4[]

The Solar Powered perk increases both your Strength and Endurance during daytime hours, and may even heal radiation and Hit Points while in sunlight.

Fallout 4 loading screen hints

With the first rank of Solar Powered, Strength and Endurance are increased by 2 between the hours of 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. The second rank slowly reduces accumulated radiation damage, and the third rank slowly restores lost health while in the sunlight.

Notes[]

  • In Fallout 3 with this perk active, waiting one hour will restore 13 health.
  • Due to the Strength increase when the perk is in effect, if you are within 20 pounds of being over-encumbered, you will become over-encumbered upon entering any indoor area or after 6PM unless your Strength without the bonus is already 10. This includes bonuses from equipment, chems, other perks, etc.
  • In Fallout: New Vegas, the perk used to regenerate only 1 hit point every 10 seconds. The speed was greatly improved in a later patch.
  • It works in the Sierra Madre, despite the overcast skies.
