Behind the scenes[]
- The Vault Boy image of Slayer in Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout: New Vegas is a reference to the 1982 action-adventure fantasy film Conan the Barbarian.
- The Slayer image from Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel shares the same Vault boy image as Better Criticals of Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics.
- The name of the perk itself is a reference to Buffy The Vampire Slayer just with Buffy the Vampire removed, and was named as such because Chris Jones was a fan of the series.[1]

So I made a rule, and the rule for that was: if you put in a joke or a cultural reference, if the player didn't get it, they shouldn't even know that that joke or cultural reference was being made, and this image (it's one of the perks you get for Unarmed), if you hit someone, you automatically becomes a critical hit; it's called the Slayer, and it makes perfect sense to someone just is saying 'Hey, that's a good name for someone who always gets critical hits. It's actually in that way because Chris Taylor was a huge fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and wanted at least one perk in there with the name 'Slayer'."
