Shovels are tools used mostly for digging. However, they can also be used as a weapon. They are miscellaneous items in Fallout 2, weapons in Point Lookout and Fallout: New Vegas, and are junk items in Fallout 4 and Fallout Shelter.
Characteristics
Gameplay articles:
In Fallout 2, the shovel is just a miscellaneous item used mostly for gravedigging. In the Fallout 3 add-on Point Lookout and Fallout: New Vegas, it is used primarily as a weapon. Along with being used as a weapon, the shovel is also used to dig up dirt mounds in Point Lookout, graves in Fallout: New Vegas, and the buried stash in the Fallout 4 add-on Far Harbor.
