Scrapheap was a town located somewhere close to Fallout area (its inhabitants mentioned Junktown and Necropolis). Scrapheap walls was built with wrecked cars, as well as at Junktown. According to town name - there should be a lot of scrap.

In 2161 it was dominated by a gang called the Crypts, that controlled the only power generator in the town and therefore ruled over the small community. The leader of the Crypts was called Rayze. Their rival gang - the Fools - was led by a woman called Baka ('Baka' is Japanese for 'fool'). She proclaimed herself to be the "Queen" of the gang.

Max Stone, the Vault 13 dweller, entered Scrapheap December 5th 2161, when the Vault Dweller begun his quest to find the Water Chip for Vault 13. Technically Max Stone was not able to leave Scrapheap then, and wasn't affected by his 120 days deadline for saving Vault 13. On the other hand, when Max Stone hepled town denizens with solving power generator problem, they gave him important for further game information, where Necropolis could be found. As well another Mac Stone could start at the same time the water chip quest at Vault 13. Because of demo Stone's shorter deadline to find the waterchip, it is possible, that he left Vault 13 a month earlier, on November 5th 2161.

It is not certain what eventually happened to the town. It is impossible to find it on Fallout worldmap (year 2161-2173) and on Fallout 2 worldmap (year 2241-2254). Possible explanation is, that Scrapheap was located just beyond eastern edge of the map, somewhere close to Vault 13 or Junktown latitude.

Quotes

  • Scrapheap is the armpit of the desert. No better place to raise children, in my opinion. This place makes Junktown look like a living city of the ancients. - Rock
  • After the War, only the Foolish remain. If I was brave enough, I would have taken my own life years ago. Instead, I pander to whatever gods of chance are left. - Baka

Appearances in games

Scrapheap appeared only in the Fallout demo. It used the Junktown area map instead of a new one, but as it had completely different characters (except for Dogmeat and Phil, who tries to get rid of the dead wanderer's dog just as in the actual game) and different plot, it might be considered a different location in the Fallout canon[1].

  1. another possible explanation is, that the Crypts and the Fools could be prototypes for factions present in Junktown; together with dog's quest in Scrapheap, Gizmo was mentioned also
