The Scorpions are a small band of raider/mercenaries in the Mojave Wasteland located around the Westside area in 2281.

Background[]

The Scorpions are a local gang, composed of dumb bullies and angry nobodies trying to make a living as mercenaries. Despite making a lot of noise, they are no real match for any real raider, particularly the Fiends.[1] They have a meager business selling chems,[2] but these operations are pitiful compared to the Great Khans. This scrappy and overconfident bunch have made their lair in the abandoned Monte Carlo Suites.[3]

Technology[]

Members are usually armed with light armor and small guns such as 10mm pistols, sawed-off shotguns or 10mm submachine guns or weak melee weapons such as a switchblades or lead pipes. At least one of them in the suites will be wielding a Ripper. They almost always wear merc cruiser outfits.

Outside relations[]

Members of the gang have no love for anyone outside of the gang and attack them, including the Courier, on sight. They are also fairly cowardly and individuals will often flee if they witness large numbers of their comrades being killed, however they will not leave the building and merely run around in fear until they are killed.

Note[]

  • Several gangs members spawn in a room with a locked door. If the lock is broken they can be sealed in permanently (unless the perk Infiltrator was chosen by the player).
  • Scorpion gang members will not respawn after being killed, so once the gang is wiped out it will be permanently eliminated from the game.

Appearances[]

The Scorpions appear in Fallout: New Vegas.

  1. The Courier: "Tell me about the Scorpions."
Klamath Bob: "Not much to tell. Typical gang of dumb bullies and angry nobodies. They're holed up a bit south of here, in the Monte Carlo Suites. They think they're tough, but any time they tangle with the Fiends, they get torn right up."

  2. The Courier: "Can you tell me about Westside?"
Klamath Bob: "Well, things aren't great here, but I've seen a lot worse. We've got the Fiends to the south of us, and that ain't good. The Scorpions hang out at the Monte Carlo when they aren't slinging chems or getting their heads blown off by the Fiends. Probably the best thing we've got going on is the co-op, run by Mr. Ettienne. Gets some help from of the Followers of the Apocalypse, I think."

  3. Fallout: New Vegas Official Game Guide Collector's Edition p.307: "[2.12] Monte Carlo Suites
On the western edge of the New Vegas Conurbation and north of the Sunset Sarsaparilla Headquarters [2.17] is a run-down hotel littered with burned-out vehicles, mostly used for cover and not barricades. This is the lair of the Scorpion Gang, a scrappy and overconfident bunch of mercenaries. They don't listen to reason, so Sneak or attack the first gang member at the entrance."
