Sarah Kellogg was the wife of Conrad Kellogg.

Background[]

Born in the Hub in the New California Republic, Conrad Kellogg was the worst thing to happen to Sarah. She could have stayed home, had a child with someone who wasn't a professional killer, and could have lived a longer, happier life.[1][2][3]

Instead, she had a daughter, Mary, with Conrad and settled down with him in San Francisco where he got steady work with a good personal protection outfit. He promised that in a few years, he would be running his own crew and would be able to provide his wife with anything she and their daughter wanted. She worried about her husband, and rightfully so; he stated he was only running security for the Shi and looking tough, but this was a ruse to cover the fact that he was still a contract killer.[4] This lie caught up to them when Sarah and Mary were both murdered by an unknown party to get back at Conrad.[5]

  1. Conrad Kellogg: "The thing about happiness is that you only know you had it when it's gone. I mean, you may think to yourself that you're happy. But you don't really believe it. You focus on the petty bullshit, or the next job, or whatever. It's only looking back, by comparison with what comes after, that you really understand that's what happiness felt like."

  2. Conrad Kellogg: "I was the worst thing that ever happened to her. If she'd never met me, she'd have stayed in the Hub, maybe hooked up with someone who didn't kill people for a living. Probably been happier than she was with me. Almost certainly lived longer."

  3. Conrad Kellogg: "I thought San Francisco was my chance to start fresh. I was the hot shit, the gunslinger from the Hub, rolling into town with the world at my feet. Everybody knew I was the one who'd shot Valdez, and I could write my own ticket to any outfit in town. It all worked out pretty damn well for a while."

  4. Conrad Kellogg: "It's going to be fine. You'll see."
Sarah Kellogg: "But we don't know anybody here, and now with the baby..."
Conrad Kellogg: "Come on, Sarah, you've got to give it a chance. I've finally got steady work with a good outfit. Nothing like that in the NCR these days."
Sarah Kellogg: "I'm not saying this was a mistake. I'm just... Are you sure these guys know what they're doing? They seem kind of... green."
Conrad Kellogg: "I know. But that's where I come in. Just wait. In a few years I'll be running my own crew, as soon as I make the connections I need. Then I can give you anything you want. And little Mary, too."
Sarah Kellogg: "I never worried about you before. Must be my mama instincts kicking in. Who knew I had those, huh?"
Conrad Kellogg: "Come on. You're great with her. And you don't need to worry about me. Most of it's just running security for the Shi. A lot of standing around looking tough."
Sarah Kellogg: "They sure picked the right person for that job."
Conrad Kellogg: "Listen. It's going to be great here. See this? This is what's going to keep you and Mary safe. I promise."
Sarah Kellogg: "I know, Connie. I'm sure we're going to be really happy here."
Conrad Kellogg: "We are. You'll see. It's okay. I've got her."
