Salisbury steak is a dish made from a blend of minced beef and other ingredients, shaped to resemble a steak, usually served with gravy or brown sauce. It was invented by an American physician, Dr. J. H. Salisbury (1823–1905), whose name has been used since 1897 to describe this particular food item. Its popularity guaranteed it an enduring presence on the American market: up to the Great War, red packages with these "steaks" and the obligatory gravy were a common sight on store shelves. Due to the packaging process, these foods remain edible for centuries, allowing wastelanders to restore small amounts of health, in exchange for a minor amount of radiation.[1]

One of the most popular brands was the Saddle Up Salisbury Steak, promising an A+ steak with peas and corn.[2]

Like other pre-War food, consuming Salisbury steak provides 5 hit points, but also raises raises ones radiation levels by 3 points.

  • Three Dog will mention this item while talking about the news, asking his audience whether they want 200 year old Salisbury Steaks or whether they want the news. To Three Dog, the answer is obviously the news.
  • Somah will also make a comment in the Mothership Zeta add-on, saying "I actually miss those Salisbury Steaks from back home."
