Ronto is a region mentioned by Ishmael Ashur and the slave Brand.[1] In a speech to the slaves of The Pitt, Ashur proclaims that The Pitt, with its industry, security, and strength, is the envy of the Commonwealth, the Capital Wasteland, and Ronto. The context in which the region is mentioned implies that by 2277, Ronto had established a reputation as a significant military power over the years.[2]

The true location[]

The name Ronto most likely refers to the Canadian city of Toronto, which would have been under the control of the United States after the annexation of Canada in 2076, just prior to the Great War. It may also refer to the pre-War city of Toronto, Ohio, given the fact that it is a mere 30 miles away from the Pitt, right downstream on the Ohio River. The true location of Ronto is unknown.

Appearances[]

Ronto is only mentioned in the Fallout 3 add-on The Pitt.

  1. Brand: "You're new, aren't you? Are you here from the Erie Stretch? The Capital Wasteland? Ronto? Where's home?"
    (Brand's dialogue)
  2. Ishmael Ashur: "Citizens of The Pitt, workers of Downtown, traders of Uptown, and all fierce souls who do what must be done! I bring you good news! We stand at the dawn of a new golden age. Where others merely survive, we thrive! Our industry is the envy of the Commonwealth! Our safety is the envy of the Capital Wastes! Our might is the envy of Ronto! And while I have led your efforts, it has been by your own strength that you have earned all of the envy of the world. They envy the steel shaped by the workers in our mills, and they envy the strength of our traders and raiders who wield that steel for The Pitt. And most of all, they envy our victories in the struggle for freedom. Because, yes, freedom is what we all work towards. Freedom from fear, freedom from disease, freedom to live as once we did before we were shackled by atomic fire! And so, to celebrate this struggle, I ask my loyal workers: who among you is prepared to fight for your freedom? Who among you will risk your life in the crucible to create a new life of freedom in Uptown? Who will take this rare chance to thrive?"
