Just remember, I got my eyes on you. We all do.

Robert is the sentry and doorman of The Family. He is found deep inside Meresti metro station in Fallout 3..

Background[]

Born in 2243, Robert is Vance's bodyguard. The two met in a fight for their lives against slavers (who Vance detests) well before the Family was formed. Robert saved Vance's life in that battle, and ever since the two have been good friends. Once Vance formed the Family, Robert began to realize how important Vance was and elected to remain ever vigilant of his friend. He keeps quiet and usually has to be prompted to get conversations. He is extremely well versed in the use of firearms and has elected himself as combat instructor for The Family.[1]

Robert stands behind a wall of sandbags between the Meresti metro and the Family's headquarters,[2] turning any explorer away.[3][4][5] Although everyone else has a law to recite, he does not, as his job entails that he stand watch at the sentry post. Not that he minds, he feels that yelling that out is stupid.[6]

If someone has a legitimate reason to be in the tunnels – or enough bottle caps to make it worth his while[7] – Robert is likely to let them by, but warn them to no do anything suspicious and directs them to speak to Vance when they arrive in the Family's inner sanctum.[8]

  • "Well, go explore somewhere else. This place is off limits to explorers." (Shooing an explorer)
  • "Ok, sure. Look, I don't have time for your bullshit. Turn around and go back the way you came. Otherwise, they'll be scraping you up with a shovel." (After being rude and demanding access to Meresti.)
  • "Just remember I got my eyes on you. We all do."
  • "Needed a place to get out of the sun for a while, eh? I understand completely."

Robert: "This lovely hole in the ground is Meresti, the headquarters of the Family."

  3. Robert: "Whoa, whoa. Slow down there. This area's off limits to everyone but the Family. Where the hell do you think you're going?"

  4. The Lone Wanderer: "Just exploring, sorry."
Robert: "Well, go explore somewhere else. This place is off limits to explorers."

  5. The Lone Wanderer: "I'm not telling you jack. Now let me get by!"
Robert: "Ok, sure. Look, I don't have time for your bullshit. Turn around and go back the way you came. Otherwise, they'll be scraping you up with a shovel."

  6. The Lone Wanderer: "Please, help me understand your Laws."
Robert: "Well, usually everyone has a rule or something they have to yell out at our gang meetings. Since I guard the door all the time, I don't have to do that. I mean, they're good laws and all, but it feels stupid yelling that stuff out loud."
    (Robert's dialogue (Fallout 3))
  7. 7.0 7.1 The Lone Wanderer: "I'm wondering what I could do with all these spare caps I have..."
Robert: "Sounds like an interesting problem. Let me take 100 of those off your hands... you know, to lighten the load."

  8. 8.0 8.1 The Lone Wanderer: "I really need to get by you. It's important I find what I'm looking for."
Robert: "Alright, alright. I guess you look harmless enough. If I were you, I'd speak to Vance before you poke around too much. You can usually find him on the mezzanine overlooking the common area."
    (Robert's dialogue (Fallout 3))
  9. The Lone Wanderer: "I don't know... For some reason, I feel like I belong here."
Robert: "Vance said others of our kind would find us! Sorry I was so harsh, but I don't share our leader's ability to feel others of our kind. If I were you, I'd speak to Vance before you poke around too much. You can usually find him on the mezzanine overlooking the common area."
    (Robert's dialogue (Fallout 3))
  10. The Lone Wanderer: "Hang on a second. I have a letter for Ian West from his sister."
Robert: "Oh, the new kid? Yeah, Vance said we should be expecting someone soon. You can head on in, but I would speak to Vance first if I was you. You can find him on the mezzanine overlooking the common area."
