An independent woman with a strong assertive streak, Rei is a lot more down-to-earth than her husband, Kenji. She's well aware that her daughter is already a capable person in her own right and doesn't need protection or guidance as much as she used to, which is what causes her no end of grief from Kenji. The incessant quarrels following the passing of Kasumi's grandfather test her nerves, but she loves Kenji all the same.
