The rapid-torch flamer is a unique weapon added in the Fallout 3 add-on Broken Steel.

Characteristics[]

The following section is transcluded from Flamer. To modify, please edit the source page.

This flamer comes equipped with a backpack to store the flamer fuel. Unlike other flamethrowers that have an ever burning pilot light, this flamer has a white-hot wire protrusion that ignites expelled gas.

Gameplay attributes[]

The rapid-torch flamer's stats are almost 100% identical to the regular flamer, except its attack animation. This difference does actually have an in-game impact, although minor – see below. The rapid-torch flamer is very sensitive and can expend a full tank of fuel in only a few seconds.

Compared to the regular flamer there is a slight delay before fire gets out, so in order to just expend one point of ammunition the fire button needs to get hold only for a little bit – holding it longer will expend two points of ammunition. So with this variant one can conserve ammunition a bit better than with a regular flamer.

This also works for the more "spray-n-pray" type player, as the rapid-torch flamer basically acts like a semi-automatic flamethrower. Rapidly tapping the fire button will let flames shoot out as fast or as slow as wanted.

Variants[]

  • Flamer, the standard variant.
  • Burnmaster, a unique variant that is significantly more powerful.
  • Slo-burn flamer Broken SteelGametitle-FO3 BS, a more powerful flamer that has flames that do more damage over time.

Location[]

The rapid-torch flamer is located in the Adams storage facility, slightly south of where the Enclave Mobile Base was located. It will be on a counter along with several missiles, two mini nukes, a bottle of Nuka-Cola Quantum, and other odds and ends.

Notes[]

  • It can be more efficient than the slo-burn flamer, due to the fact that the rapid-torch needs to reload 1/3rd as often, and it deals more damage per unit of flamer fuel.
  • Without Pyromaniac it is about 1/2 as effective as the other unique flamer in the game, the Burnmaster.
  • It is still obtainable after Who Dares Wins is completed.
