You're joking, right? Ever since that behemoth you call an airship arrived here, everyone in Diamond City's talking about it. The Brotherhood's the biggest thing to hit the Commonwealth since, well... since the Institute set up shop here. Now, don't avoid the question by changing the subject. Tell me why the Brotherhood's looking for my help.

Professor Scara (it is her name, not the title, the whole thing is rather complicated)[1] is a resident of Diamond City in 2287.

Background[]

The head of the Science! Center, Scara is the opposite of Duff: Gruff and introverted. She and Doc Duff are a classic odd couple, with the chipper Duff forever trying to get on Scara's good side, acting as if they are married, and Scara always annoyed by Duff's antics. To make things worse, she isn't thrilled about the quality of the laboratory in Diamond City, but she has no other choice if she wants to pursue science. However, she is an excellent scientist in her own right, rivaling even Institute minds when it comes to robotics of any degree of sophistication.

While the Brotherhood's arrival is an opportunity for her to pursue greater things and gain access to the means with which to pursue her goals much more freely, she is wary of their motivations and methods... But with the right motivation, she will grudgingly join Proctor Ingram if she requires her skills... Such as when it comes to restoring Liberty Prime.[2]

In the meantime, she occupies herself with field research trips and work on robots. The General Atomics Galleria is a particularly interesting example, as GAI's Director system allowed a single master robot to control a staff of servitors, which enables a facility to be almost entirely self-sufficient.

  1. The Sole Survivor: "Actually, I was looking for you."
Professor Scara: "Oh! Well, that puts an entirely different spin on everything, doesn't it. My name's Professor Scara. And in answer to what I expect to be your next question, "Professor" is my first name, not my title. The whole thing's rather complicated, perhaps I'll explain it to you sometime."
Cait: "I once knew a guy who called himself "Doctor," but he didn't tell me that was his actual name until after the physical examination."
Professor Scara: "So, now that I've formally introduced myself, perhaps you'd care to tell me why you're here?"
