On the search for promising minds, the Institute has caused yet another misunderstanding in the Commonwealth, with the Minutemen now drawing the net around one of their scientists.
Speaking with Father, he will reveal that he knows of the Sole Survivor's work with the Minutemen, and that their help is needed with settling a conflict between the Minutemen and one of the Institute's scientists.
Upon arrival at Graygarden, a short distance away at an independent homestead, the house of a wastelander by the name of Wallace will need to be discovered, with the immediate area either needing to be cleared of Gunners, should the Sole Survivor have had little to no contact with the Minutemen, or the Minutemen will need to be confronted otherwise.
As the Minutemen are posed to attack Enrico and his generation 1 synth bodyguards, they must either be talked down, explaining to them that the incident is nothing more than a misunderstanding, and that the Minutemen are now allied with the Institute, they must be killed, making the Minutemen permanently hostile, or the Sole Survivor may join them in killing Enrico and his guards, which will make the Institute permanently hostile.
Once inside, Wallace must be persuaded that no harm is meant towards him. Should the Sole Survivor decide to still work with Enrico and the Institute, Wallace will be successfully persuaded to join the scientific pursuits at the Institute, and Enrico will immediately take him there, where he will then be seen working in the advanced technologies division.
