Pierre LaPoubelle is the chief engineer of the three former Brotherhood Scribes found at the Hoover Dam Engineering Facility in Van Buren.
Background[]
Born in 2201, Pierre is a strong, hearty man in his early fifties. He is highly intelligent and focused on his work, which would have made him a contributing member of the Brotherhood, had he not deserted Maxson's Bunker out of dissatisfaction with the Brotherhood's policies and Andrea Brixley's leadership. Despite the war with the Brotherhood, Governor Joseph Dodge decided to give him and the other two Scribes a chance and allowed them to work for the community that emerged around Hoover Dam. The three volunteers did not share the location or the existence of the Bunker with the Governor to protect their friends.[1]
Dodge's peaceful, fair-handed approach secured a powerful asset for the Dam. Pierre is currently working on engineering a stronger, hardier kind of wheat and corn that can thrive in the arid climate and poor wasteland soils. He also collaborates with Otto Steed to improve the filtration process and turn water for irrigating crops into safe potable water.[1]
Interactions with the player character[]
- Pierre was involved in a number of quests, including the creation of the aforementioned filtration process. Pierre would direct the player to Jericho to recover the schematics. Upon return, the player could show off their Mechanics skill by installing the upgrades in return for accolades from Pierre and an advanced tool kit, or if they lacked the requisite skill, just hand them over to Pierre in return for a regular tool kit and Pierre's friendship. In either case, Pierre was intended to be a potential source of the Bunker's location.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- The image used to visualize Pierre is a screenshot showing Roy Batty (portrayed by Rutger Hauer) in the seminal Blade Runner.
- His last name is French for "the trash" or "the bin".
Appearances[]
Pierre LaPoubelle was going to appear in Van Buren, the canceled Fallout 3 by Black Isle Studios.
