— Paul Hannon Jr., Fallout 3

Paul Hannon, Jr. (2258–2277) is a resident of Vault 101 and a member of the Tunnel Snakes gang in Fallout 3.

Background

A friend of Butch DeLoria, Wally Mack and the Lone Wanderer, Paul was born in 2258 to Paul Hannon Sr., a security guard, and Vikki Hannon. From a young age he spend time together with DeLoria and Mack, forging a close relationship with the two, though he remained more passive, letting them lead. Paul's status as the child of Vault 101's security guard certainly helped foster acceptance.[1]

He was invited, together with DeLoria and Mack, to the Lone Wanderer's tenth birthday party on July 13, 2268. He's a lot less confident and confrontational than his peers, apologizing to the host for his fiends' behavior. This, of course, prompted more teasing from DeLoria and Mack, leading Paul to call the host "dorkface", so as to not lose his face. The three later brainstormed various names for their "gang" during the party. The "gang" formed some time afterwards, managing even to obtain several leather jackets, no small feat in the regulated environment of the Vault.

Paul took his GOAT on August 3, 2274, together with the rest of the adolescent population of the Vault. The test (which, much to Paul's relief, pointed him towards a career as an engineer) was preceded by an unfortunate incident, when his "gang" tried to pick on Amata Almodovar, using rather suggestive language.

His life was abruptly ended when James escaped from Vault 101, inadvertently triggering a radroach infestation. Paul Hannon was severely wounded by the insects and died due to a lack of proper medical treatment. As Freddie Gomez points out when the Lone Wanderer returns to resolve the factional crisis in Vault 101, if their father did not escape, Paul may have been saved.

Paul is sitting on the bottom rung of the Tunnel Snakes' tiny social ladder. The other Snakes often tease him when they lack another suitable target. His dad being security chief of the vault gives him a certain cachet among his friends, though."
