So... you're in charge of Patterson's Suicide Squad, huh?

Thomas Morgan to Patterson's replacement

Patterson was an American strike team commander who died shortly before the player arrives at the U.S. Army field headquarters in the Anchorage Reclamation simulation in 2277.

Patterson was the field officer in charge of General Chase's strike team, killed in action by a Red Chinese bombing run on the U.S. Army Headquarters.[1] The person running the simulation (the player) assumes control of his strike team to fulfill the objectives of Paving the Way and Operation Anchorage!.[2]

  • There is some inconsistency regarding his rank: General Constantine Chase refers to him as "Colonel Patterson" whereas his own terminal greets him as "Lieutenant Patterson". This might be a simple mistake or an instance of a field promotion, which is likely considering the high attrition rates in the Sino-American War.

Patterson is mentioned only in the Fallout 3 add-on Operation: Anchorage.

  1. 1.0 1.1 Constantine Chase: "At ease, soldier. We're all a bit strung out from the last Commie bombing run on our Field H.Q. We lost some good men including my Strike Team Commander, Colonel Patterson."
  2. Constantine Chase: "You've earned yourself a field promotion, soldier. From this moment on, you're in charge of Patterson's Strike Team."
