A classic bolt-action rifle design dating back to the 20th century. Its rugged design, performance against a variety of game, and accuracy made it a staple of American hunting before the Great War. The nuclear holocaust has merely changed the type of animal hunted by the owner of the rifle. The availability of replacement units often cause owners to neglect their rifles, though their performance even while damaged and far between repairs is a testament to the quality of this all American design. While the basic model was chambered for the venerable .308 round, hunters in the Capital Wasteland area are known to use a model chambered for .32 caliber rounds meant for pistols.
Paciencia is a unique hunting rifle. It has a 3 round magazine but boasts higher damage than the regular variant as well as higher item HP. Its main advantage over the standard variant is its extremely high critical damage, an astounding 110 points, equal to the anti-materiel rifle. Due to its bonus critical chance you will see devastating critical hits quite often. It also has a higher level of zoom when aiming down the rifle's iron sights than regular hunting rifles, though not as high as weapons with top-tier scopes like the sniper rifle. However, like most unique weapons, Paciencia cannot be modified using standard hunting rifle mods.
In appearance, it is less makeshift than regular hunting rifles. The pieces of metal and duct tape holding the barrel in place are absent as the barrel is in no state of disrepair, the stock isn't damaged, and the wood is in far better condition. A Mexican flag is also wrapped around the stock for use as a makeshift cheek rest.
In Spanish, paciencia means "patience". According to J.E. Sawyer, it is so named "because you have three shots, so you had better make them count."
PCPlayStation 3Xbox 360 This gun suffers from a misaligned iron-sight in which the gun's physical iron sight notch is to the right of where the game's marker is located; thereby, making this gun inaccurate in long range shots.
