Icon cut contentThe following is based on Fallout 3 cut content and has not been confirmed by canon sources.

We will not give up this position and the Mutants show no sign of slowing down. The best thing you can do is eliminate any Mutants you find. I have no reward to offer you but my thanks.

Paladin Northup was a character set to appear in Fallout 3, but was removed from the final version of the game.

Background[]

A member of the Lyons' Brotherhood of Steel, Northup was dispatched along with a squad of paladins to retrieve a cache of Fat Man munitions, uncovered by one of the Scribes in old documentation. The squad managed to track down the storage container and the key, but were unable to remove it.[1] The reason? Ever since they uncovered the cache, they've been suffering constant raids by seemingly endless waves of supermutants. Instead of retreating and abandoning the cache, Northup decided to defend it to the last man, to prevent the micronuclear munitions from falling into the hands of mutants.[2]

Notes[]

  • The internal name places him in Chesterbrook. While Chesterbrook is a Census Designated Plance in Pennsylvania, given the scope of Fallout 3, it's much more likely that he was meant to appear in downtown DC, as the internal Form Lists and Freeform Quest data referm to him.
  • The dialogue strings identify him as Paladin Bishop.

Appearances[]

Paladin Northup was set to appear in Fallout 3, but was cut from the final release of the game.

  1. Northup: "We were looking for Fat Man ammo. One of the Scribes found a reference to a storage box in some old documents. We found the box, alright. And the key. But then the Mutants showed up. If I didn't know better, I'd swear that this was a trap! But the only way that those Mutants will lay a hand on this key is over my cold, dead body."
  2. Northup: "What does it look like? We're fighting a losing battle! That's what's happening. They just keep coming. We haven't slept in days. Every couple of hours, more show up."
