The Nevada Highway Patrol station is a former law enforcement outpost on the I-15 south of Primm in Fallout: New Vegas.

Background[]

This base used to serve law and order on Nevada's highways, providing the basic facilities for policemen on duty. Long abandoned, it's been taken over by the Jackals, who keep it surprisingly clean and orderly, while fighting the wildlife, ferals, and escaped convicts that appear in the area.[1]

Layout[]

The station is easily identifiable by the black-and-white patrol car hulks outside and the large billboard pillar just north of it. A couple of Jackal gang members patrol the outside under their leader. A number of convicts and feral ghouls can appear and fight with the Jackals, providing an opportunity to slip by or just pilfer the riches afterward. The exterior has the usual subtle raider humor painted on the entry doors - "Fuck you" in block, capital letters - while the northern wall has a more wistful note, with the author wishing they were at the Sierra Madre instead.

Interior[]

The station is surprisingly intact. The entrance leads into the main area, which served as a break room, locker hall, and office space all in one, connecting to the cells and lock-up in the back through a corridor with two break rooms.

There are two Jackals in the main room, a pair of +5 HP/+5 rads water fountains in the hallway complete with two first aid boxes inside the toilets (one of them has a Very Easy lock), while the cells contain a reloading bench and a dead prospector picked over by giant mantis nymphs behind the bars.

Most of the containers do not respawn (except for the darker filling cabinets), making the station effective player housing.

Notable loot[]

Appearances[]

Nevada Highway Patrol station appears only in Fallout: New Vegas.

The local—and long abandoned—cop shop has now been taken over by the Jackal Gang, who battle periodically with the wildlife, Ghouls and Escaped Convicts. There's excellent sniping potential if you climb on the roof of this one-story structure, but there's more to find inside."
