The Mountain Shadows Campground is a location in the Mojave Wasteland. It is located south-east of Lake Las Vegas and north-west of Ranger Station Alpha.

This is a small group of three campsites with no real significance. Random junk, old campers and broken vehicles are scattered around park benches.

The main campsite is near the top of a hill, and has a campfire, a camper with a bed and makeshift bedding on the ground.

The two secondary campsites are both at lower elevations than the main one: one lies west-northwest, while the other is on the other side of a guard rail to the east. Neither of the secondary campsites contains a campfire or bedding.

Notable loot

  • Brushing against the trunk of the blue car at the west-northwest campsite causes its height adjustable suspension to fire one last time, knocking it into the air.

Mountain Shadows Campground appears in Fallout: New Vegas.

Behind the scenes

The that script manages the cazador presence at Bonnie Springs (VERShadows01QuestScript) has a comment that reveals the cazador nest formation was originally supposed to take place at Mountain Shadows campground, but was moved and reduced in scope due to Bonnie Springs because of performance issues encountered on the Xbox 360 and PS3. The full script comment says:

This GameMode script runs with a low frequency update so as to save processing cycles. It's responsible for some encounters in the Mountain Shadows Campground - including a Cazador take-over. Moved this encounter to Bonnie Springs, and reduced the number of spawns, so that we can run shenanigans on adorable consoles.

The script also includes commented-out references to greater numbers of both cazadores and Vipers gang members.

  • When approaching from the direction of Ranger station Alpha it is possible to encounter the destroyed remnants of Victor, face-down on the sloping side of the rock face.
