A Wattz Electronics C-U model motion sensor. Detects the movement of biological material over a distance of meters using a tuned radar device.
”A Wattz Electronics C-U model motion sensor, or simply motion sensor is a miscellaneous item in Fallout and Fallout 2.
Characteristics
The motion sensor is a computer auxiliary that detects the movement of biological material over a distance of meters using a tuned radar device.[1]
If placed in an active item slot, the motion sensor can be used in conjunction with the Pip-Boy 2000 AutoMap feature. The motion sensor will display all living and moving beings on the map - represented as red dots - if the "Scanner" button under the AutoMap is clicked.[2][3] The C-U model is only compatible to the PIP-Boy 2000 or earlier models; the PIP-Boys Vault City is equipped with are too advanced to use this auxiliary.[2]
In Fallout 2, carrying a motion sensor in your inventory gives you a 20% bonus to the Outdoorsman skill when traveling on the world map. It's battery life is displayed in the Interface bar's ammo meter.
Locations
Fallout
- It may be sold by Killian Darkwater in Junktown, the Shopkeeper in the Cathedral or at the General Store in the Hub.
- One is found in the Unusual Call Box special encounter.
Fallout 2
- One can be received as a reward for Vault City quest; Enter NCR and return to Stark.
- The Armorer in the Navarro Enclave base has one, but you must kill him to get it.
- One can be found on the second floor of Vault 8 in the small locker behind locked door.
Notes
- The AutoMap Scanner feature can be used to scan the area ahead and to plan accordingly, despite its need of an active item slot.
- Vault-Tec Industries also made motion sensors.[2]
- If fully drained it cannot be resold.
