Boo hoo! The mean boss took all the dumbass slave's goodies! Is I'm gonna cry to Ashur?!

Mex is a slaver guarding the gate to The Pitt around 2277.

Daily schedule[]

Cruel and despicable, even for a Pitt Raider, Mex has been removed from general guard duties by Ashur and sent to guard the gates to Pitt Downtown after bouts of Pitt Slave punishment that left many with horrific injuries. Adept with a rifle, Mex is content with tagging escapees, laying down a variety of mines, and watching his prey explode in a variety of impressive arterial spray patterns.[1]

Mex and three of his men keep their guns trained on the road into town all day, ready to blow away any pests trying to get in or any vermin trying to get out.

Interactions with the player character[]

Interactions overview[]

Perk empathy synthesizer
This character is involved in quests.

Quests[]

  • Into the Pitt: Mex will "greet" the player when he comes close to the gate in The Pitt.

Effects of player actions[]

  • Player claims to be a returning escaped slave: Mex confiscates the player's equipment (except for a hidden weapon chosen in dialogue with Wernher), who is then dressed in a slave outfit and sent Downtown to work.
  • Player claims to be looking for work: Mex sarcastically tells the player to go right in and fill out an application. Unsuprisingly, they are immediately ambushed, knocked out (even with power armor) and outfitted in slave garb. Any weapon hidden with Wernher's help will be made available in inventory.
  • Player kills Mex and enters Downtown: The player is ambushed, as described above. Assailants do have different dialogue in this instance.

Notes[]

  • When he strips you of your weapons, even if you have no items on you, he still says "Where'd you get all this shit? Whatever. It's mine now. I hit the jackpot today!"

Appearances[]

Mex appears only in the Fallout 3 add-on The Pitt.

Behind the scenes[]

  • Mex is most likely a reference to the chain of Mad Mex restaurants, which are relatively popular in Pittsburgh, and the surrounding area like in Monroeville and Squirrel Hill.
