As a good citizen, I applaud Carlson's opposition to any New Reno influence around here. Now that Westin's dead, I've been helping out with security for the Vice President.
”Merk is the head of organized crime in Shady Sands in Fallout 2.
Background[]
A well-dressed, heavy-set man who moves with deliberate slowness, Merk is the boss of the criminal underground in the NCR. The ordered, lawful manner in which the capital is run squeezes out lesser men.[1] Merk has an air of arrogant coldness to him, caring little for other humans. However, his no-nonsense, business-minded approach allowed him to establish numerous operations in the NCR and nurture contacts with important people. Of those, perhaps the most important are with Vice-President Frank Carlson (whom he wholeheartedly supports) and his security detail.
In order to avoid the prying eyes of the vast NCR police force, Merk usually holds court in a bar located in the outer Bazaar area of NCR, the Rawhide Saloon. However, in order to actually impress Merk enough to make him offer a job, one needs to prove their worth. A show of force or competence is usually enough. The latest challenge is besting one of Merk's enforcers: A super mutant named Lenny.
