Memory chips are highly sophisticated technological devices designed for large capacity storage. A specific type of chip was used in the Vault-Tec Visiontron for storing the resident's memories. This cutting edge technology is reliable and rewritable, as when Horace Pinkerton stole T. Dithers' memory chip from Vault 112, he was able to rewrite the memories into those belonging to a veteran wasteland warrior named Harkness and then implant them in A3-21 using a circuit neuralizer.[1][2][3] Interestingly, the memory chips seem to override the memory centers of a connected person's brain - Pinkerton's actions actually liberated Old Lady Dithers from Braun's influence, rendering her the only person aware that she is stuck in a simulation controlled by a malevolent overlord.[4]
