The meat mine (just called meat in-game) is an cut explosive weapon added in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.
Characteristics[]
The meat mine is like all other mines and is a placed explosive device. It uses the same explosion data as the frag mine, so the explosive activates when any land-based target approaches within 4.6 feet[1] and detonates in a 9-foot[2] radius after a three second timer elapses.
Cut for unknown reasons, possibly time to get it properly working, the meat mine is nearly complete and even has a projectile that would throw out a mine that uses the steak mesh, but, more interestingly, an unused AI package, NVDLC03X8GabeMeatFindPackage, for Gabe exists that would make Gabe actively try and find an meat mines placed near him. So at one point, the meat mines would've been an easy way for the player to beat Gabe when they had to face him in A Brain's Best Friend.
Speculatively, the player would have had to craft meat mines from the many pieces of Preserved meat found in the X-13 research facility.
Notes[]
- Like other proximity mines, it cannot be used in V.A.T.S.
