McMurphy (?-2281) was a Great Khan war party leader who assisted Benny in his ambush of the Courier. By the time the Courier catches up with the Khans, he is found dead in the Boulder City ruins hideout in Fallout: New Vegas.

His body is removed at the conclusion of the Boulder City Showdown quest.

Background

A tough leader of the war party hired by Benny as an escort to Goodsprings, McMurphy was the rare raider who showed compassion and loyalty to people outside his immediate kith and kin. When his Khans caught up with the Courier, he insisted on putting them out of their misery quickly (and to avoid attracting attention). After leaving them for dead, he and his raiders escorted Benny around the McCullough Mountains, stopping over at Novac. Manny Vargas took them in and McMurphy was impressed that the bonds still held true. Although most doubted Manny's loyalties, especially after his service in 1st Recon, McMurphy believed in Vargas and hoped that he would eventually come around and rejoin them.

Unfortunately, McMurphy never got the chance to see if Vargas returned to the fold. His Khans tangled with an NCR patrol north from Novac and were forced to retreat into the Boulder City ruins. McMurphy was shot and died away from the Red Rock Canyon and his family, expiring on an old, molded mattress in their hideout, as Benny disappeared in the confusion, returning to New Vegas to execute his plan.
