— Lydia Montenegro, Fallout 3.

Lydia Montenegro is a resident of Tenpenny Tower in Fallout 3.

Background

Lydia runs the Boutique Le Chic, which serves as the general store. Talk to her, and you’d think she’s running a high-end shop and not peddling salvage to Wasteland dwellers, such is the elitist illusion she lives under. Lydia spends her days in the shop, then relaxes at the Federalist Lounge with her friend Michael Hawthorne.[1]

Quests

  • Tenpenny Tower: She is one of several bigoted residents that you have to try and convince to change her views if you are attempting to help move Roy Phillips' ghouls into Tenpenny Tower.

Effects of player actions

  • She will leave the tower if you loot her safe in Boutique la Chic, claiming it's not safe despite all the guards. If she leaves, you will lose the ability to buy house upgrades. If this happens, the only other option is to let the ghouls invade the tower. After the invasion, Michael Masters will take over the shop, and a different shop will sell the house upgrades. If you loot her safe but haven't talked with her (which triggers her leaving and wandering aimlessly around the wastes) you can get her to stay in Tenpenny Tower by killing Roy and his gang.

Notes

Icon cut contentThe following is based on Fallout 3 cut content and has not been confirmed by canon sources.

Although Lydia sells primarily miscellaneous items, she was at one point intended to sell weapons and armor as well. A leveled item list containing an expanded assortment of weapons and armor - VendorChestLydiaMontenegroWeaponsArmor - is present in the game but unused. The likelihood of this list producing items is controlled by a global variable - TenpennyBoutiqueWeaponsArmorChanceNone - which presumably would have been modified based on the player's actions.

Bugs

  • PlayStation 3Icon ps3 Xbox 360Icon xbox360 PCIcon pc If she decides to leave Tenpenny Tower, she supposedly heads out to Megaton and can be found outside the main gate causing tremendous graphics lag for some reason. Scaring her away or doing her in, however, instantly removes her effect on performance.

Appearances

Lydia Montenegro appears only in Fallout 3.
