“
For some reason, you feel a terrible sense of loss as you look at this familiar lump of gray matter.
”— In-game messageLump of brain is an item in the Fallout 3 add-on, Point Lookout.
Characteristics[]
This particular lump of brain is a piece taken directly from the Lone Wanderer's own brain, which was then preserved in a glass jar after extraction by Tobar, all of which takes place during the quest Walking With Spirits.
Location[]
This lump of brain can be discovered in the engine room of the Duchess Gambit, on the table next to Tobar. It can only be obtained after completing the quest Walking with Spirits, and asking Nadine in the Ark & Dove Cathedral to remove the Lone Wanderer's scar.
Notes[]
- The Lone Wanderer had significantly less brain taken out than most, which is seen by observing the quantities seen in the other jars.
- Upon examining this item, the game states that "You feel a terrible sense of loss..." when looking at this familiar piece of gray matter. This is a direct reference to Fallout 2's mutated toe; however, there is no option to eat the lump of brain in Fallout 3.
- The 'familiar' piece of brain will be on the Duchess Gambit even before the quest is started, which can be discovered by using console commands to bypass the locked door prematurely.
