Laurie was the friend of the happily married newlyweds Jim and Jess. Just prior to the Great War she and her husband Bruce attended their wedding ceremony, which took place at a home on a lake on the southern part of Mount Desert Island. Together they gifted them a nuclear dishwasher as a wedding present.
