— Wilks, Fallout 3

Knight Sergeant Wilks is a Lyons' Brotherhood of Steel member in command of the Galaxy News Radio Outpost[1] in Fallout 3.

Background[]

Wilks is in command of the Galaxy News Radio Outpost,[1] the only port in the storm that is the ruins of Washington, D.C.[2] He is one to help in a pinch and hates super mutants as much as the Lone Wanderer.[3] Naturally he has a high opinion of Galaxy News Radio and obviously a low one of Enclave Radio.[4]

Once the quest to repair the antenna has been completed, he will comment that since the "power came back on" the entire place is brand new. To him even the Wasteland looks brighter. Ecstatic that they can still throw a kink into the Enclave's work with their returned signal reach.[5]

Relationships[]

Despite his last name, Sgt. Wilks is apparently not related to Bryan Wilks or his father, Fred. There is no dialogue option for Sgt. Wilks related to Those!, even if you have not yet spoken to Vera Weatherly. Although he is in direct command of the outpost, he assigned himself along with Knights Dillon and Finley to guard the interior.

  2. The Lone Wanderer: "What's the Brotherhood doing here?"
Wilks: "We have a relationship with the station here. We stay in this reinforced structure, and protect it from the Super Mutants. This is the only real safe spot in the ruins of D.C. The rest of the place is crawling with those walking abominations. It's nice to have a port in the storm, you know?"

  3. Fallout 3 Official Game Guide Game of the Year Edition p.81: "Knight Sergeant Wilks
Wilks is one of three Brotherhood Knights charged with defending the G.N.R. Radio Station interior. All Knights are employed in the service of Elder Lyons, who resides in the Citadel. Although they're haughty, they'll help you out of a fix and they hate the Super Mutants as much as you do."
(Fallout 3 Official Game Guide Game of the Year Edition Wasteland Census)
  4. The Lone Wanderer: "Free voice of the people? What does that mean?"
Wilks: "Well, the only other station that comes through nice and clear on the radio is the Enclave's station. All they spew is a bunch of nonsense and propaganda. Galaxy News Radio reports on what's really happening."
    (Wilks (Brotherhood of Steel)'s dialogue)
  5. The Lone Wanderer: "How are things now that the power's back?"
Wilks: "It's amazing. We've always been able to hear GNR, but it's like the station is brand new or something. Things are back on track. That should throw a kink in the Enclave's work. You've done a hell of a job. The Wasteland looks a little brighter if you can believe that."
