Josephine Spencer was the mother of Jacqueline Spencer and wife of Gerald Spencer, who passed away in her daughter's childhood, leaving her with a bereaved father and her husband with no guidance in life. Deciding to write a journal entry addressed to her to cope with the loss.
A talented mechanic, she planned to give Jacqueline her old toolbox upon her sixth birthday. Although she wasn't there to witness the event, Jacqueline disassembled half the items in Gerald's store by the next day.[1] As the years passed and Jacqueline's mechanical and intellectual aptitude would grow, Gerald commenting that she would be proud.[2]
