Momma always told me not to talk to strangers, but you seem like a nice person. Momma left me on a farm when she went out prospecting, but when she never came back, the owner didn't want me around and kicked me out on my own. A nice guy came up and asked me if I wanted to join the NCR so I did. Now the Troopers are my family. I like it here. Everyone is so nice.
”Private First Class Jeremy Watson is an NCR soldiers being honored during Aaron Kimball's speech in Fallout: New Vegas.
Background[]
Born in a tin shack on the outskirts of One Pine, Jeremy Watson never had it easy. His father worked as a caravan guard on the Short Loop, and his mother, like many Californians, braved the ruins of the Old World as a prospector. They suffered through water shortages, raider attacks, and the NCR's war with the Brotherhood of Steel. One day he was left on a farm, when his mother was prospecting, and she never came back. The owner didn't want him around and kicked him off his farm. Soon after being evicted, a recruiter asked Watson if he wanted to join the NCR Army and subsequently agreed.[1] After several years of service, Watson was later stationed at Camp Forlorn Hope where his platoon was attacked, and he took a risk to save them. He was then awarded the Star of Sierra Madre for this act of bravery, and the Star was to be given to him by President Kimball at Hoover Dam.

Behind the scenes[]
Pvt. Jeremy Watson is based on Forrest Gump, the protagonist in the movie of the same name. They are both in the army, share the same haircut, and both are less than intelligent. As a further reference, Watson claims he will meet the president personally and receive a medal for his duties. Like Gump, he is unwittingly humble for his achievements.
Appearances[]
Jeremy Watson appears only in Fallout: New Vegas.
