It's hard being a starving artist.

— Ismarc

Ismarc is a singer found in the Skum Pitt in Junktown, in Fallout.

A thin, angry-looking man,[1] Ismarc is a self-described starving artist making a living through his singing. He typically works in the Skum Pitt at Junktown, but sometimes travels to the Hub. He has even visited the Brotherhood of SteelLost Hills–and Adytum with the caravans.[2]

He learned his trade from an old singe in the Hub and further developed his repertoire with the Adytum scavs. But mostly, as he says, it's practice.[3]

Your head is a bowl!
It's round like a mole!
I'd rather fry!
Than pay you the toll!

I know your mind
It's a steel cage
Raging inside is . . .
The DeathClaw

I need you
Like a bad dose of poison
I need you
Like a rad scorpion strike

Behind the scenes

Ismarc's song is a cultural reference to the Nine Inch Nails song "Head Like a Hole" which goes:

Head like a hole
Black as your soul
I'd rather die
Than give you control

Ismarc appears only in Fallout.

  1. Ismarc: "{100}{}{You see a thin, angry-looking man.}"
    "{101}{}{You see Ismarc.}"
  2. The Vault Dweller: "{110}{}{Do you do music anywhere else?}"
Ismarc: "{115}{}{Yeah, I sing at the Hub sometimes, and I've visited the Brotherhood of Steel and Adytum with the caravans. Why do you ask?}"
  3. The Vault Dweller: "{112}{}{Where did you learn to sing?}"
Ismarc: "{125}{}{Ah, I picked it up here and there. Learned a little from an old singer at the Hub, and got some music from the scavs in Adytum, in the Boneyard. You know. Just takes some practice.}"
  4. The Vault Dweller: "{116}{}{Can you tell me how to get to the Hub?}"
Ismarc: "{120}{}{The Hub? Oh, it's just a short distance down south of Junktown. What else?}"
  5. The Vault Dweller: "{117}{}{I need to know how to get to the Brotherhood.}"
Ismarc: "{121}{}{The Brotherhood is a couple days west and a little bit north of here. Don't go there, though. They won't let you in unless you're with a caravan. You need anything else?}"
  6. The Vault Dweller: "{118}{}{How do I get to Adytum?}"
Ismarc: "{122}{}{Hmm. Head southwest of the Hub. Adytum is part of the Boneyard. It's a small, semi-industrial town. I didn't like it much there. What else do you want?}"
