The following is based on Fallout Tactics and some details might contradict canon.

The hunting rifle is a small gun that appears in Fallout Tactics.

Characteristics[]

The Colt Rangemaster Hunting Rifle appears in Fallout Tactics again. It is chambered for the powerful, common 7.62mm round and takes one less AP to fire than in previous games. This gun is terribly destructive during the first few missions, being able to pick apart foes at a distance from which they can't hit back.

This weapon along with 3 other weapons(Laser rifle, Gauss rifle, M1 Garand) has an aiming bonus when used on long ranges. Sniper rifle gets a similar but an even bigger long range aiming bonus. These bonuses come with an close range aiming penalty which is bigger than the standard penalty other ranged weapons have. This means that if one wants a weapon for long range sniping, than one of the mentioned 5 weapons should be used.

Locations[]

  • Carried by Farsight at the beginning of the Brahmin Wood mission.
  • A raider inside the Brahmin Wood compound, patrolling near the brahmin pen, is also carrying one. Another one is inside the raider road block, one in the sniper nest, one in the ruins, one outside the raider base, and two inside the base.
